Crochet Quickie: Cup Cozy
How did it get to be the last week before winter holiday break again and I have NOTHING for the teachers? Didn't I promise myself last year that this wasn't going to happen... AGAiN? If you're in the same boat (whether it's for teachers, the mail carrier, your hair stylist, etc.), you're in luck. This little cozy is quick to make and a delight to give!

MATERIALS
Worsted Weight Yarn (specifics in the pattern notes) G Hook (4.25 mm) Yarn Needle Stitch Marker (optional) Buttons or other decorations (optional)

PART 1: COZY
This piece is worked in joined rounds. Even so, you may still want to use a stitch marker to help you keep track of the first stitch in the round. Work in desired color. Round 1: CH 30. Join with SL to first ST in round (30 STS). Rounds 2-4: CH 1 (does not count as SC). SC in first CH ST and in each ST around. Join with SL to first SC (30 SC). Round 5: CH 1 (does not count as SC). SC in first ST. Work 2 SC in next ST. SC in each remaining ST around. Join to first SC with SL (31 SC). Rounds 6-7: CH 1 (does not count as SC). SC each ST around. Join with SL to first SC (31 SC). Round 8: CH 1 (does not count as SC). SC in first ST. Work 2 SC in next ST. SC in each remaining ST around. Join to first SC with SL (32 SC). Rounds 9-10: CH 1 (does not count as SC). SC each ST around. Join with SL to first SC (32 SC). Round 11: CH 1 (does not count as SC). SC in first ST. Work 2 SC in next ST. SC in each remaining ST around. Join to first SC with SL (33 SC). Rounds 12-13: CH 1 (does not count as SC). SC each ST around. Join with SL to first SC (33 SC). Note: FO after Round 13. Leave ends (you will be stitching over them when you work the edging.
PART 2: EDGING
1. With the back of the piece facing you, join your edging color to the foundation chain. SC around evenly, weaving the tail from the beginning chain in as you go (30 SC). Join to the first SC with SL and FO. Weave in the end. 1. With the back of the piece facing you, join your edging color to round 13. SC around evenly, weaving the tail from the beginning chain in as you go (33 SC). Join to the first SC with SL and FO. Weave in the end.
PART 3: DECORATING
1. Using another complementary color, top stitch around the top and bottom edges of your cozy using a surface slip stitch (optional). See below for example:
