Sholay Cowl Knitting Pattern: Handspun Yarn, Self-Striping, Lace Design with Mirrors - Moonsister on Ravelry

sfo[ag

Sholay means ,fire" in Hindi and is also the name of one of the most succesful movies from India. This cowl uses handspun yarn and can easily be adjusted in width Or height. I used the contents of one phatfiber (fluff) box for this project.and spun it into a selfstriping yarn. See my project page on ravelry for details if you like. My ravelry name is moonsister.

notes

pm = place marker black box = no stitch Knit all even rows but purl the purled stitches! The stitchcount in the lace part changes. Using stitchmarkers will help you keep track. If you want a wider or narrower cowl use less stitches in pattern 2 between the lace parts. Keep in mind you need a stitchcount dividable by 10 at the top and bottom (for pattern 1). Sholay cowl \~ Tle Moony Pin \~ for private use only

Edge: Join, being careful not to twist. Knit 1 row in pattern 1. At the end of the row knit the last stitch and the first stitch of the new row together to close the gap between the two rows. - 100 St) . Knit 2 more rows in pattern 1. Set-up row: (pm, row 1 from chart (11 st), pm, row 1 of pattern 2 (14 st) ) 4 times (lace pattern and pattern 2 are alternating across the row → 4x(lace + pattern 2) ) Follow chart and pattern 2. The magic happens on the odd rows, every even row is to be knit apart from the purled stitches- always purl these.

On the first 20 rows:

On rows 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 k2tog before the next marker marking a lace part (4 dec per row). - resulting in 80 st Repeat rows 1. - 20. without decreases for 3 times or until desired height Knit 3 rows in pattern.
