Begin working Vermillion Lace chart
Keeping the first and last three stitches of each row on garter stitch, repeat Vermillion lace chart Rows 1-16 three times. The chart represents one 15-stitch repeat ofthe lace pattern. On each row you begin and end with the 3-stitch garter edge. For ease of knitting place a stitch ring marker between each 15 stitch pattern section, and on either side ofthe center stitch. In the written pattern the stitches between the \*\* are the 15-stitch lace design. During each repeat ofthe 16-row pattern you are building a stockinettetriangle on the edges of the shawl and on each side of the center stitch (with a yarn over on either side) that will become the base for additional pattern repeats on subsequent 16-row lace pattern repeats.
