I prefer Catania from Schachenmayr (100 % 4-ply cotton), but you can use every other yarn you like with a hook in matching size. Note: using different yarn will probably change the size of the finished doll.

Hair
In black: cut 60 pieces of 20 cm (8 ") length, take 2 threads together and knot them into free loops of R 28 of the head. Then split the yarn into its single threads to get smooth and softly curled hair.
Cut again 60 pieces of 24 cm (9.5 ") length, or even some more if necessary. Split yarninto its sigle threads and then (picture: dwarf) make a knot exactly in the middle of the piece of yarn (all 4 single threads together). Sew the threads tightly over the middle line of the head, pricking the needle through the knot, working from forehead to back of head.
[Shorten hair to desired length.
Hairband with bow
In red ch 40, working bow following instructions of bow for shoes and sew bow on ch. Pin hairband on its place and sew it on head.
