Starting with a k row, work in stockinete st for 4 rows. P across the right side row to create a turning ridge for the hem. Starting with a p row, work in stockinette for 5 rows. BO purlwise on the wrong side, leaving along tail. With the long tail, fold the hem at the turning ridge and stitch down the BO sts to the inside of the bonnet. There will be a small opening at each end of the hem. This will be where you feed the bonnet ti through, so don't sew it up! :-) Stillusing smaller needles, with the right side facing, and starting in the lower right hand coner of the bonnet,. pick up and k 4 sts on the hem (making sure to only go through the top layer of the hem), 1 st for each garter ridge along the bottom of the bonnet and then another 4 sts on the other side of the hem. 62 (66, 70, 74) StS.

Finishing

Weave in allends and find a pretty princess to model your creation! It is said that Princess Charlotte wore her bonnet backwards outside the Lindo Wing (she is a trendsetter already). This bonnet may be worn either way; just flip it around so the hem rests along the chin instead of framing the face. :-)
