Yarn: Approx 15 grams of 4ply, suitable yarns are Patons Patonyle, Filatura Di Crosa Zarina, Heirloom Baby 4 ply, and sock yarn. Needles: 2.5mm for small, 2.75-3mm for medium Also: About 50cms of fine ribbon or cord Gauge: Unimportant - it'l fit eventually! Abbreviations: \* - repeat from here yo - yarn over k2tog - knit 2 together k2tog.tbl - knit 2 together through the back of the loop Begin: Cast on 39 sts. Row 1 - K2, \*p1, k1 to last st, k1. Row 2 - K1, p to last st, k1. Repeat these 2 rows 7 more times (16 rows total). Eyelet Row: K2, \*yo, k2tog, k1 - repeat to last st, k1. Set up for instep: K13, p13, k13. Next row: k14, (p1, k1) 6 times, turn work Next: k1, p11, ki, turn work. You will now work back and forwards on these 13 instep sts. Continuing broken rib pattern (k1, p1 on RS, purl on WS) work 18 more rows. Break off yarn. With RS of work facing and using same needle where the 13sts were left: pick up 14 sts along side of instep; knit across 13 instep sts; and pick up another 14 sts along sde of instep; then knit across remaining 13sts (67 sts) Next row: Knit all sts. Knit 10 more rows. Shaping bootie: (k1, k2tog, k28, k2tog.tbl) twice, k1 K29, k2tog, k1, k2tog.tb, k29 (k1, k2tog, k25, k2tog.tbl)twice, k1 k26, k2tog, k1, k2tog.tbl, k26 (k1, k2tog, k22, k2tog.tbl) twice, k1. The original instructions tell you to cast off,then seam up the bootie. I prefer to k25, turn bootie so right sides are facing inwards and kitchener the sts together working in the odd st at the end - then seaming up the back of thebootie.
