REPTILIAN
A pattern from Weaverknits

Reptillian is an elegant, easy to knit scarf that takes advantage of the properties of Katia's slinky thin ribbon yarns. Sometimes a design starts as an idea, a picture in the mind; at other times, a yarn inspires a finished product. In this case, Beth was drawn to the Katia "Sevilla" yarn in a Chicago yarn store, purchased a few balls with the idea of designing a scarf, and proceeded to mess with stitch combinations until discovering one that used the yarn in a way that is elegant rather than trendy. Sometimes the simplest patterns are the best! Ann worked up a version in “Cathy," and the variegated, mottled colors looked and

felt like snakeskin. An asymmetrical serpentine tail and a few beads complete the theme. Wear Reptillian to work or with jeans, year-round. Working with a synthetic yarn has the bonus of creating a garment whose warmth does not limit it to cold seasons! Think of the possibilities for Bamboo or silk blends as well. Level: Beginner
