· one Twisted Fiber Arts sample in any weight, any skein design · needle size necessary to obtain a relatively fine gauge (see http: / / www.twistedfiberart.com / About_our_ Yarns_ Twisted_Fiber_Art_s /43.htm and check the needle sizes recommended for socks)
Instructions
Cast on 12 stitches using a needle 1-2 sizes larger than the one you will use to knit the bookmark. Adjust the number of stitches cast on depending on the size of your sample and the weight of the yarn. You will need an even number of stitches. Knit 4 rows. Rows 1, 3, 5, and 7 (WS): knit 2, purl to last 2 stitches, k2. Rows 2, 4, and 6 (RS): knit. Row 8 (RS): k2, (yo, k2tog) to last 2 stitches, k2. Rows 9, 11, 13, and 15 (WS): k2, p to last 2 sts, k2. Rows 10, 12, and 14 (RS): k.
Fickle on Tasty Row 16 (RS): k2, (k2tog, yo) to last 2 sts, k2. (You may substitute ssk for k2tog in row 16 if desired.) Repeat rows 1-16 until you have a litle more than one yard remaining, ending with any RS row except rows 8 or 16. Knit 4 rows. Do a stretchy bind-offas follows: knit 2, \*insert left needle into stitches in front of right needle, ktog, k1, repeat from \* until only one stitch remains on right needle, use smallcrochet hook to pull remaining yarn through the last lop. Weave in ends. Soak your bookmark for 15-20 minutes in luke-warm water and block using stiff blocking wires to get a straight edge.
