Yarn: Fingering yarn 4ply or sock yarn (459yards/100g) in two contrastive colors. Here: Wollmeise 100% Merino (Kornblume blue and Fuchsia pink) Buckle DPNeedles (or circuar as desired) 2 - 2.5 mm (US 0 - 1.5) I used 2.25 mm, because I knit loosely. stitchmarkers Color 1 is main color (here blue). Rib pattern: knit 5, purl 1 st = stitch m1 = make one stitch by taking loop between two stitches, twist loop k = knit p = purl m = stitchmarker pm = place marker sm = slip marker k2tog = knit 2 stitches together ssk = slip stitch, knit one, pass slipped stich over kfb = knit through front and back loop of stitch to increase one st

Right and left Mitt:

Cast on 54 st in color 2 (pink). Join to knit in the round. Purl 6 rounds. Change color -- take color 1 (blue) and knit one round. Knit 54 rounds in rib pattern.

Increases for right thumb:

1. Round: 32 st in rib pattern, pm, m1, k 3, pm, p 1, knit in rib pattern to end of round 2. Round: knit in rib pattern to first marker, sm, knit to second marker, sm, knit in rib pattern to end of round 3. Round: knit in rib pattern to first m, sm, m1, k to second m, sm, p 1, knit in rib pattern to endofround 4. Round: knit in rib pattern to first m, sm, knit to second marker, sm, knit in rib pattern to end of round Repeat rouns 3 and 4 until you increased 16 stitches. Both Mitts:

Knit 20 rounds in rib pattern. Change color - take color 2 (pink) [k8, k2tog] 6 times, now you have 54 st. Purl 5 rounds Bind off purlwise.

Thumb:

Take color 1 (blue) Take away waste yarn, put 16 st onto 3 DPN's as followed: 7-7-2st Pick up 6 st from gap. Now you have 22 st. 7 - 7 - 8 st Next round: k15, ssk, k1, k2tog, k2. Now you have 20 st. 7 - 7 - 6 Knit 10 rounds. Change color, take color 2 (pink) Round 1: knit Rounds 2 - 4 : purl Bind off.

Application band:

Take color 2 (pink). Knit in rows. Width depends on size of buckle!! 1. Row (Wrong side/WS): p4 2. Row (Right side/RS): 1kfb, k1, 1kfb, k1 (6 st) 3. Row: p6 4. Row: 1kfb, k3, 1kfb, k1 (8 st) 5. Row (RS): ssk, k6, k2tog 2. Row (WS): p8 3. Row: ssk, k4, k2tog 4. Row: p6 5. Row: ssk, k2, k2tog 6. Row: p4 7. Row: ssk, k2tog 8. Row: purl 2 st together Knit band as wide as you like, depending on buckle. Sew ends. You can fix application, but you must not.
