Lacy Hat and Hairband Knitting Pattern for Warm Months with Cotton Blend Yarn and Granite Stitch Border Tutorial

# Lacy Hat and Hairband

This simple to knit hat can be worn in the more temperate to warm months as it's made from a cotton blend that not only feels comfortable - its lace pattern makes it stylish! The hairband is a very pretty, comfortable and standout accessory to wear, and takes next to no time at all to complete.

For this you will need: 1 ball approx. Patons Cottontops 50g, 5mm (6UK & 8 USA) Circular needles or the required size to give correct tension Tension: 20 sts approx. using 5mm needles Standard Abbreviations: K = Knit P = Purl Rnd = Round Inc = Increase Yfwd = Yarn Forward as if to Purl, thus making a stitch PSSO, Pass Slipped Stitch Over Cont = Continue Rep = Repeat Patt = Pattern Tog = Together Sl1kw = Slip 1 Knitwise Alt = Alternate Important note about the No-holes cast on: I have posted a youtube tutorial for your benefit if you haven't casted on and knitted in this fashion before so please watch this before you begin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-xwlUclHMU

After having watched this tutorial and followed the loop part of the casting on, commence by looping around the needle heads 4 times only and do half a loop to commence the knitting. After pulling the bottom circular head through, knit the four top sts, flip the needles over and do the same for the four sts that are now in the top position, taking care to remove the slip knot. You should now have a total of 8 sts K another rnd in this manner

Next rnd: Inc in every st, 8 sts on each side, 16 in total

Next and every alternate rnd: K

Next rnd: \*K1, inc in next st, rep from \* to end, 12 sts each side, 24 in total Next rnd: \*K2, inc in next st, rep from \* to end, 16 sts each side, 32 in total Next rnd: \*K 49 sts, inc in next, rep \* once more, 102 sts P two sts together across next round, 51 sts K into front and back of every st across next round, returning to 102 sts P across next rnd Rnd 3: \*Yfwd, sl1kw, K2, psso both sts, rep from \* to end Rep these 4 rnds 3 times more Finish off with Granite Stitch Border Castoff

Lacy Hairband

A verypretty accessory towear! Using 5mm Circular needles and small quantity of Patons Cottontops, cast on 91 sts and join in the round by bringing the extra st across the LH needle

Commence Granite Stitch Border:

Rnd 1 : K2 tog, thus securing the join in the rnd, k across the rnd P two sts together across next round, 45 sts K into front and back of every st across next round, returning to 90 sts P across next rnd Commence Lacy Patt: Rnd 1: K1, \*Yfwd, sl1kw, K2, psso both sts, rep from \* to last 2 sts, K2 Rnd 2 and every alt rnd: K every st across the rnd Rnd 3: \*Yfwd, sl1kw, K2, psso both sts, rep from \* to end Rep these 4 rnds 3 times more Finish off with Granite Stitch Border, omitting 1st rnd Cast off loosely
