Notes
This stitch pattern arose from my dissatisfaction with other "waffle" stitch patterns. They are all fine in their own right, but none recreate the true waffle stitch that you might find in an undershirt or long johns. This, however, does. That being said, I did not come up with this stitch pattern, I merely deciphered it. This stitch pattern is a type of double brioche, which is different from standard brioche knitting. Everything is done in adjacent twos, and yarnovers will span the width of two stitches. In this stitch, three yarn overs will be worked before the stitches are brk'd or brp'd. It is the multiple yarn overs that create the horizontal bars of the "waffle" square. Also, please note. When you're performing a brk2 or brp2, the yarnover may have a tendency to slip off the second stitch. Take care to make sure that the yarn over stays behind both stitches.
