ROSGILL PIXIE HAT

A cute pointy hat knitted in 2x2 rib with occasional cables integrated into the decreasing stitches. Quick and relatively straightforward the hat can be knitted on double pointed needles, or a circular needle using the magic loop method. It takes less than loog of any chunky wool, so is an ideal 1 skein project.
You will need:
100g ball Chunky weight wool (l used Sirdar Lopi for the pink hat and Patons Shadow Tweed for the browny green one) 6mm needles, either 4 double pointed, or a circular needle. 6mm cable needle Sewing up needle Stitch marker Length of contrast yarn, preferably smooth, for tubular cast on. Tension (worked in 2x2 rib with 6mm needles): 17 sts and 20 rows to 10cm. This CALKNits pattern is provided for your personal, non-commercial use and may not be resold or shared. Change to the main yarn, and working forwards and backwards (not in a circle) work 4 rows in st st, beginning with a purl row. Next row: Purl 2 sts. \*lnsert tip of LH needle into first main colour loop of the first row, lift up and knit. Repeat with the next loop, then purl two sts off LH needle\*, repeat to end. For the last K st pick up the half loop of main colour at the very edge and knit through the back of the loop. Remove contrast yarn.(80 sts) If using circular needle bring both ends together; if using DPNs arrange sts on 3 needles, place a stitch marker on the needle and continue in the round. For a small or neat fitting hat work 10cm, for a fuller depth work 12 cm in 2x2 rib.
