MATERIALS
Main Color: Regia Silk 4-ply - about 250 m/270 y 0r any other solid fingering weight yarn, Contrasting Color: Noro Kureyon Sock for yoke and cuffs - about 100 m/120 y or any other variegated fingering weight yarn, e.g. Drops Delight, Needles: US 4 - 3.25 mm circular (dpns - optional for sleeves) or appropriate size to get gauge, waste yarn stitch markers 3 buttons
GAUGE (AFTER BLOCKING)

PATTERN STITCHES
Stockinette Stitch (worked flat) - row 1: knit; row 2: purl. Stockinette Stitch (circular) - knit all Sts. Garter Stitch (flat) - row 1: knit; row 2: knit. Garter Stitch (circular) - row 1: knit; row 2: purl. All abbreviations are at the end of the pattern.
INSTRUCTIONS
Yoke
Using your preferred method and CC yarn C0 66 sts. Row 1: k12, pm, k9, pm, k24, pm, k9, pm, k12.
Rows 2 and 3: knit across
Row 4 - girl version: \*k until 1 st before marker, m1r, k1, sm, k1, m1l\* repeat from \* 3 times more, knit until 4 sts and make first buttonhole: k2tog, yo, k2. Row 4 - boy version: \*k2, yo, k2tog, k until 1 st before marker, m1r, k1, sm, k1, m1l\* repeat from \* 3 times more, knit until the end. You will be making 2 more buttonholes in every 12th row - there should be 6 Garter ridges between them. Row 5: knit across. Row 6 - increase row: \*k until 1 st before marker, m1r, k1, sm, k1, m1l\* repeat from \* 3 times more, knit until the end. Repeat rows 5 and 6 until you have 52 sts between the 2nd and the 3rd marker (the back). Repeat row 2 again. Now you should have 178 sts on your needle: 26 sts for each front, 37 sts for each sleeve and 52 sts for back. In the next row change to MC yarn and work one more increase row = 186 sts. Next row: k4, purl until last 4 sts, k4.
Body
Next row (RS): knit until marker, remove marker, transfer 39 sts to waste yarn, remove marker, knit until next marker and remove it, transfer another 39 sts to another waste yarn, remove marker, knit until the end = 108 sts. Next row and all ws rows: k4, purl until last 4 sts, k4.
Next row (RS): knit across.
From now on work as established in St st (flat) making 4-stitch buttonband in Garter st (flat) until it measures 22 cm / 8.75" from the shoulder edge, or your desired length. Finally work 8 rows in Garter sts (flat) and BO all sts knitwise.
Sleeves (make 2)
Transfer 39 sts from waste yarn to needles, pick up and knit 1 st at underarm. Put marker in the middle of underarm to mark the beginning of round. Work in St st (circular) until your sleeve measures 11 cm / 4.25" from underarm, or your desired length. In the next rnd change to CC yarn and work 6 rnds in Garter st (circular). BO all sts knitwise.
Finishing
Weave in loose ends. Block the cardigan, sew buttons and find a cute baby to wear it. Enjoy!
