Log Cabin Washcloth on the Bias!
I was very inspired by the simplicity of Joelle Hoverson's Kerchief Scarf and Log Cabin knitting as described by Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne in the Mason Dixon Knitting book. After knitting several different washcloths as gifts, I sort of fell upon this design. It's cute, easy, and is very adaptable to almost any worsted yarn, and any color or combination of colors! This is also a great project for using up leftover yarn! I wanted to make a softer, moveable fabric that was easier on the hands to knit up, so I used Us10 needles, but certainly smaller needles would make a tighter, more durable fabric. Finished Size: Approx. $8.5^{\prime\prime}\times9^{\prime\prime}$ using approx. 50 yards of double-worsted yarn (I calculated this by using a calculator that uses the finished area measurement $(I\times w)$ of the piece with the needle size. Found on Gauge: 13 sts per $4^{\prime\prime}\,/\,\,4.5$ rows per 1"

Instructions
(Once you have afew rows, place your marker in the lower right hand corner, where your first stitch is, to remind you which side is the Rs. It will be obvious once you add the second color.) With color A,cast on 2 sts Row 1: Sl1, kfb Row 2: sl1, knit to last stitch, kfb Do every row this way until you have 10 garter ridges, ending on the RS. Change to color B, and begin decreases: K2tog, k to end. Continue in this manner until you have 2 sts left. Bind off. For picking up stitches, the numbers I gave are just guides. Pick up however many stitches you think are necessary to work the entire edge. Turn the work (RS facing you) so edges of color B is at top and left. With colorC, pick up 10 sts on top edge. Knit 6 garter ridges. Bind off on RS leaving 1 working stitch, and turn cloth (RS facing) 90 clockwise, and again with colorC, pick up 16 sts and knit 6 garter ridges. Turn the work (RS facing you) 90 clockwise, and now with color B, pick up 16 sts on top edge. Knit 6 garter ridges. Turn the work (RS facing you) 90 clockwise, and again with colorB, pickup 22 sts on top edge. Knit 6 garter ridges. Bind off. Weave in ends. Enjoy!
