Finished Measurements

Arm Circumference 8.5"/21.5cm, unstretched. Thunderbird pattern on beaded cuff allows arm to stretch $2"$ above stated measurement. Hand Circumference $5.5"/21.5\mathsf{c m}$ ,unstretched. Broken rib pattern allows hand to stretch at least 2" above stated measurement. Gauntlet length 6" from hem to base of hand. This length can be varied from a minimum of $4"$ total from hem to wrist, to as long as desired.Details in pattern.

Materials and Tools

Gauge

32 sts and $50\,\mathsf{r o w s}=4"/10\mathsf{c m}$ in Stockinette Stitch (knit every round) Always take time to check your gauge. Special Stitches

Broken Rib (worked in the round over a multiple of 2 sts): Round 1:[K1,p1] to end. Round 2: Knit all sts. Garter Rib (worked in the round over a multiple of4 sts): Round 1:[K2, p2] to end. Round 2:Knit llsts. LLI (Left Lifted Increase):Insert the left needle from front to back under the left leg of the stitch two rows below the frst stitch on the right needle,lifting this loop onto the left needle, then knit or purl into thisloop to create a new stitch. RLI (Right Lifted Increase): Knit into the top of the stitch below the frst stitch on the left needle,leaving the frst stitch On the left needle.

Cuff(make 2)

Make cuff according to the Rolling Thunder Sock pattern, as follows: Use dental floss threader or big-eye beading needle to thread 140 beads onto one ballof yarn.Push the beads down the yarn as you work,until they are needed. Using Crochet Cast On,CO70sts.Jointobegin working in the round, being carefulnot to twist. K 10 rounds. Work Beaded Welt. Work Rounds 1-10 of Thunderbird Pattern.

Turn Hem

Fold hemalong beaded round toWs of work.Work each st from the CO edge together withast onthe needle see Pattern Notes). Work Beaded Welt. Work Rounds 10-20 of Thunderbird Pattern. Work Beaded Welt. Work Rounds 1-11 of Thunderbird Pattern. Work Beaded Welt. K1 round. Next round: [K9, k2tog] 6 times, k4 - 64 sts

Work in Garter Rib for $3"$ oruntilwork is $1.5^{\prime\prime}$ short of wrist according to yourdesired length,ending with Round 2f Garter Rib. Next round, work decrease round as follows: $\ast\mathsf{K}2$ p2tog, k2,p2,repeat from \* to end - 56 sts (8 sts decreased in round). Round 2:Knit Round 3:\*K2,p1, k2,p2, repeat from \* to end Round 4:Knit Repeat Rounds 3 and 4 five more times. Sizelarge only: Continue to repeat Rounds 3 and 4 four more times,then Round 3 once. Continue with Thumb Gusset.

Size medium only:

Work a second decrease round as follows: $\ast\mathsf{K}2.$ p1,k2,p2tog,repeat from \* to last4 sts,k2,2-9sts (7sts derease in round) Round 2:Knit Round 3:\*K2,p1, repeat to last 4 sts, k2, p2 Repeat Rounds 3 and 4 two more times, then Round 3 once.Continue with Thumb Gusset.

Thumb Gusset

Begin thumb gusset, placing markers between 2 sts as follows: Round 1:Knit 48 (55) sts, place marker,LL,R,place marker, knit to end of round -2 gusset sts,51 (58) sts total. Round 2:Work n patteasestablished tofirst marke slipmarker purl tnext marker, lp marker, work inpattern tend of round. Round 3:Knit tofrst marker,slip marker,Ll, knit to next marker, RL,slip marker knit to end of round -2 more gusset sts. Work Rounds 2 and 3atotalof8times- 18 guset sts,67(74)sts total.Continuing in established pattern, work evenfor2 rounds; end ready to work Round 2. On the next round, create thumb opening as follows: work in pattern to frst marker, transfer 18 gusset sts to waste yarn, CO 2 sts using backwards loop method (see diagram on page 4), work to end of round - 51 (58) sts.

Finishing

Working CO sts in patten as established, work even in rib pattern for 12 more rounds.Knit 10 rounds.Bind off loosely in knit.

Thumb

Transfer 18 thumb sts to double-pointed or circular needles and distribute for knitting in the round. Join yarn and purl these 18 sts, then pick up and knit 2 sts from backwards loop CO - 20 sts. Join into a round. Place marker to indicate beginning of rounds.Work thumb as follows: Round 1:Knit Round 2:Purl Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 one time. BO loosely in purl.
