Flower Hexagon Bag Pattern by adorably kawaii

A great project to use up your leftover scrap yarns. I hope you enjoy this pattern!
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn in three colors. (Approximately 3 yds/2.7m of main color, .5 yds/.5m of contrasting color, and 5 yds/4.5m of second contrasting color per hexagon.)
Tools:
· E/3.5mm hook
Size:
Hexagons are about 3" (7.6cm) across between the points and each straight side is about 1.5" (3.8cm). The bag is 10" (25cm) wide and 9" (22.8cm) tall, excluding the straps. Results will vary depending on your tension and your yarn & hook choice.
Abbreviations:
Ch - Chain Sl st - Slip stitch Dc - Double Crochet St(s) - Stitch(es) 2 dc - 2 double crochet increase Spc - Space Hdc puff st - half double crochet puff R# - Round/Row # stitch Rep - Repeat Sc - Single crochet
Special Stitches & Techniques:
4 hdc puff st - Yarn over and pull up a loop. You now have 3 loops on the hook. \*Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop.\* x3. You now have 9 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 9 loops on the hook. Ch 1 to close the puff. 5 hdc puff st - Yarn over and pull up a loop. You now have 3 loops on the hook. \*Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop.\* x4. You now have 11 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 11 loops on the hook. Ch 1 to close the puff. Invisible join - Cut yarn and put through the last stitch. Insert hook into the first stitch of the previous round from back to front and put the yarn end through. Then insert hook back to front through the back loop of the last stitch and pull the yarn end through.

Flower Hexagon (Make 21):
Crochet over yarn ends as you go along so there's less yarn ends to weave in.

With contrasting color yarn, R1: 5 sc into magic ring. Cut yarn. Join the end of the round with invisible join. (6 sts. The invisible join counts as a st.) With main color yarn, R3: Pull up a loose loop in a st and work 4 hdc puff st in the same st. Ch 2. \*5 hdc puff stitch in next st, ch 2\* x5. Join the end of the round with a sl st. (6 puff st petals) Cut yarn. Pull the yarn end through the last st to the back of the work. With second contrasting color yarn, R4: Insert hook into a ch 2 spc and pull up a loop and ch 2 (this counts as the first dc). \*2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc\* into the same spc. \*3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc\* into the next ch 2 spc and rep 4 times more. Cut yarn and leave a tail for sewing. Join the end of the round with invisible join.
Assembly:
Arrange your hexagons like shown below and join them by single crocheting them together through the back loops only with the right sides facing each other. Then fold and sew up the sides.

Fold here and sc the sides together.
Top Border:
With main color and the right side of bag facing, insert hook into the top of the bag, ch 2 (counts as first dc), and then dc all around. When you get to the points shown below, 2 dc into the ch 2 spc. 2 dc in the ch 2 spc at these points.

Straps (Make 2):
Count 6 sts in the center of the top hexagon. With main color, ch 2 in the 6th st (counts as first dc and dc in the next 5 sts. Ch 2, turn. (6 dc) k in rows until the strap is 15" /38cm long or desired length. Then single crochet the strap onto the other hexagon of the same side with the right sides facing each other. Do the same for the back to make the second strap.
