Tentacles
Reliable sources (i.e. teh internetz) show that Cthulhu has 8 tentacles. I decided fringe could fill in nicely. This site has some great directions with pictures. http://www.ehow.com/how_2226277_add-fringe-scarf.html If you're like me and want to divide the fringe tentacles evenly, I did it like this.

About the pattern.
My ex boyfriend is awesomely nerdy, so I made him a knit Cthulhu. When I gave it to him, it was suddenly winter in Wisconsin and he didn't have many warm winter clothes. He asked for a Cthulhu scarf since I had green yarn left over, and the hunt for a pattern was on. I found a great felted pattern and a few crocheted patterns, but nothing that was just knit. Several charts, false starts, and revisions later, this was the result!
