Hallowed HandS
As Soon as I Saw Hermione Granger wearing these gloves in the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part l, I knew I had to have a pair of my own. This is for anyone who felt the Same!

Inside Out?
As this pattern is written to be made in the round, really every row should be a purl row. But who wants to do that? So, rather than hae to purl every row, Ive written and made the whole thing in Knit and then turned it inSide out at the end. PleaSe remember that the woven in ends of yarn will have to be hidden on the Knit Side of this pattern though!
Row 38-40 Row 41
knit 3 rows knit to marker, slm, m1, knit to next marker, m1, slm, knit to end (42) knit 3 rows Row 42-44 Repeat rows 41 to 44 three times more (48)
Divide for thumb:
Continuing stripe changes as per chart, divide for thumb as follows: Row 57 k to marker, slip all stitches between markers onto a stitch holder (13), k across remaining stitches (35) Continue to follow stripe chart to row 14 then change to Yarn A. Next Row Knit row

Abbreviations
yo: Yarn over - Make an additional stitch by bring the yarn to the front of the work before knitting the next knit stitch. pm: Place marker slm: Slip marker m1: Because I didn't want to pull up any stitches from the row below and ruin the stripe pattern, I made the extra stitch with a yarn over. Remember to knit into the back of this stitch on the following row so that it doesn't leave a hole.
Special Stitches:
Cabled Cast On: Insert the right hand needle between two stitches (not into the stitch itself), wrap round yarn and pull through, place this loop onto left needle and repeat until you have the number of stitches required.
Then bind off using picot bind off as follows:
Bind off 3 stitches, \*slip the stitch on the right needle back onto the left needle and cast on 2 stitches using cable cast on, then bind off 5 stitches. Repeat from \* until all stitches have been bound off.
Finish the Thumb:
Slips stitches from stitch holder back onto needles. Remember to start following the colour stripe chart from where you left off.
