SWEETPOETRY
by Claire Dupont

No need for cable needle! These fingerless mitts feature a simple and pretty twisted stitch pattern. Add a mohair strand to the main yarn to give more volume and a denser and beautiful texture. You will have very soft, light and warm mitts. Choose between S, M and L sizes. This is a short and fast project to knit for ladies and girls.

Special techniques
m1pr - make one purlwise right: pick up strand running between stitches, from back to front, purl into the front www.knittinghelp.com/video/play/m1r-on-the-purl-side-continental m1pl - make one purlwise left: pick up strand running between stitches, from front to back, purl into the back www.knittinghelp.com/video/play/m1l-on-the-purl-side-continental pick up and purl - this is similar to pick up and knit, except you do it from the back of the work. Put your needle behind the work and push the tip through to the front, wrap the stitch as if to purl, and pull it through to the back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQAWi9wuAvc
Stitch pattern
Mock Cable Ribbing pattern No cable needle needed! The effect is created by a twisted stitch once every 4 rounds, in a group of 4 stitches. Right Twist (RT): leave the first 3 sts on the left needle and knit into the 4th stitch as usual, do NOT drop, knit into the 1st stitch as usual, do NOT drop; knit into the 2nd stitch, do NOT drop; knit into the 3rd stitch,

then DROP the 4 stitches together.

Note: The right twist creates an interesting pattern on the reverse side of the work... Which offers the possibility to wear the mitts inside out. Reversible design!

Instructions
Small (Medium, Large) With smaller needles (suggested size US 2.5 / 3 mm), cast on 40 (45, 50) sts; place marker and join to work in the round (being careful not to twist).
Abbreviations
st(s): stitch(es) m: marker slm: slide marker rnd: round k: knit p: purl incr rnd: increase round RT: right twist (4 sts) round m1pr: make one purl wise right m1pl: make one purl wise left Ribbing \*k3, p2\* repeat to end of round. Work ribbing until piece mesures 5 (6, 6) cm / 2 (2.5, 2.5)". Godron pattern rnd 1 & 2: knit all sts. rnd 3 & 4: purl all sts. repeat the 4 rnds a total of 3 times, then rnds 1 & 2 once more. At this point, the right and left mitts are worked differently.
Left hand
change to larger needles (suggested size US 4 / 3.5 mm) Mock Cable Ribbing pattern rnd 1: p9 (11, 13), place m, p1, place m, p7 (8, 9), RT, p5, RT, p10 (12, 14), slm. rnd 2, 3, 4: p9 (11, 13), slm, p1, slm, p7 (8, 9), k4, p5, k4, p10 (12, 14), slm. Work rnds 1 to 4 once. Starting with the next round, you will work increases for the thumb gusset while continuing the Mock Cable Ribbing pattern as established. rnd 5 (incr rnd): p9 (11, 13), slm, m1pr, p to m, m1pl, slm, p7 (8, 9), RT, p5, RT, p10 (12, 14), slm. rnd 6: p9 (11, 13), slm, p to m, slm, p7 (8, 9), k4, p5, k4, p10 (12, 14), slm. rnd 7 (incr rnd): p9 (11,13), slm, m1pr, p to m, m1pl, slm, p7 (8, 9), k4, p5, k4, p10 (12, 14), slm. rnd 8: same as rnd 6 size S: repeat rnds 5 to 8 a total of 3 times. size M: repeat rnds 5 to 8 a total of 3 times, then rnds 5 and 6 once more. size L: repeat rnds 5 to 8 a total of 4 times. Upon completion of this part, you have 13 (15, 17) sts between the 2 markers.
Dividing round
size S & L: p9 (-, 13), remove m, place next 13 (-, 17) next sts onto scrap yarn, remove m, p7 (-, 9), RT, p5, RT, p10 (-, 14), slm. size M: p11, remove m, place next 15 sts onto scrap yarn, remove m, p8, k4, p5, k4, p12, slm. Work the next 4 rnds of Mock Cable ribbing, starting with rnd 2 for size S & L and rnd 4 for size M (to complete the sequence of the current pattern). rnd 1: p16 (19, 22), RT, p5, RT, p10 (12, 14), slm. rnd 2, 3, 4: p16 (19, 22), k4, p5, k4, p10 (12, 14), slm. You have 5 (5, 6) Mock Cable sequences. Work rnds 1 to 4 2, (3, 2) times more. Upon completion of this part, you have 7 (8, 8) Mock Cable sequences.

At this point, the right and left mitts are worked identically. \* You can try the mitt to decide if you want it longer and add one more sequence of Mock Cable Ribbing pattern before the next last 4 rnds and binding off. Work rnd 1 once more. Next rnd: knit all sts. Change to smaller needles and purl 2 rnds. Bind off purlwise.
Thumb
Place the 13 (15, 17) sts on larger needles. Pick up and purl 1 st from where the top of the thumb joins the hand, p 13 (15, 17), pick up and purl 1 st, place m. You have 15 (17, 19) sts. Purl 4 (6, 6) rnds. Bind off purlwise. \*

Finishing
Weave in ends. Block gently, being careful not to overstretch your mitts.
