Warm One Hat

A simple, basic double brimmed hat in bulky yarn. A quick knit, makes a snuggly warm hat great for charity knitting. Each batch of these hats brings more requests for the recipe, so here it is.
Materials:
Yarn: 1 skein Bulky yarn of choice - Lamb's Pride Bulky or similar, or worsted held double. Needles: US 10 16" circular and double points, or whatever size you prefer for bulky knitting Notions: Stitch marker, darning needle
Finished size:
18" (20") unstretched. Smaller size fits a school-age child; larger size fits teens and adults.
The Recipe:
Cast on 56 (64) stitches. Join in the round, place marker. K1P1 for 20 (22) rows. Knit for 20 (22) rows. Begin decrease rounds: R1: K6, K2tog, repeat to end of round R2: Knit R3: K5, K2tog, repeat to end of round R4: Knit R5: K4, K2tog, repeat to end of round R6: Knit R7: K3, K2tog, repeat to end of round R8: Knit R9: K2, K2tog, repeat to end of round R10: K1, K2tog, repeat to end of round R11: K2tog, repeat to end of round Break yarn, pull tail through remaining stitches and pull gently to close the circle. Weave in ends, remembering that brim flips up to show the underside out. Fold brim halfway up. Congrats, you've Warmed One! Thanks for trying this pattern.
