Eyelet Headbands

Hook: Size US H (5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge. Yarn: 20 - 75 yards sport weight yarn. Notions: Like color y" - %" elastic, like color thread, and needle. Gauge: 18 sts = 4" in eyelet pattern. Sizes: Newborn (baby, toddler, small child, large child, adult)to fit head sizes 13" (14", 15", 16", 17", 18"+). Glossary: Ch - Chain DC - Double crochet FO-Fasten off SC - Single Crochet SI - Slip St/sts - Stitch(es) 1. Ch 45 (50, 55, 60, 65, 70). 2. DC in 4th Ch from hook. DC in next Ch. [Skip next 2 Chs. Ch 2. DC in next 3 Chs.] Repeat from [ to ] to end. - Stop at this point for super skinny band (really cute on newborns!) 3. Ch 5. [Skip next 3 DCs. DC 3 in the next (Ch 2) space. Ch 2.] Repeat from [to ］ to last (DC 3) group. DC in last DC. - Stop at this point for a middle width band. 4. Sl into first (Ch 2) space. Ch 3. 2 DC in same (Ch 2) space. [Ch 2. Skip next 3 DCs. 3 DC in next (Ch 2) space.] Repeat form [ to ] to end. Turn work 90 degrees clockwise. 5. Ch 2. DC in the (Ch 3) space from row 3's beginning. DC in 1st Ch of row 1. 6 - 7. Ch 1. SC in next 3 sts. FO. 8. On opposite side of band, fasten on at the 3rd Ch of row 4. Ch 2. DC in the space before last DC of row 3. DC in 3rd to last Ch of row 2. 9 - 10. Ch 1. SC in next 3 sts. FO. - Weave in all ends. - Cut a piece of y" - %" elastic that is 2" in length. Fold over %" on each end, tucking raw ends under and pin to ends of headband to make a circle. Stitch elastic in place. - You can weave a ribbon through eyelets, stitch a flower to the front, and embellish away! Or leave it simple and chic. Do what you prefer!
