Silk Gray Sweater Pattern for Knitting Machine and Hand Knitting with Rib Details and Raglan Decreases

This is the first sweater I knit up using my new knitting machine! Silk Gray is an uncomplicated friend for a casual look. Knit up in a luxurious silk blend, the material is shimmering and at the same time interestingly tweedy.

Pattern illustration

The sweater has small 1x1 rib details around all edges. The neck is wide and flattering with a small rib detail. I left the bottom rib open in the sides, but that's optional of course. Size: Depending on amount of ease this will fit sizes from 36-40". Small sizes will get an oversized sweater; largersizesacloserfittedversion.

Yarn:

I used 4 skeins of BC garn Granite (860m/940yrd): in light gray. This yarn can be substituted by any fingering or DK weight silk/wool or silk/merino blend that will give you an even, yet airy fabric at this gauge. Yardage: about 900 m/1000 yards. I had almost nothing left to finish, make sure there is more in your LYS if you want to gamble! Also - if you're knitting a longer version you'll need more yarn. Needles: US 2.5 - 3.0 mm for the ribbing and US 6 - 4.0 mm needles for the body, or size needed to obtain gauge, tapestry needle, stitch markers. Silver Reed LK-150 (mid gauge knitting machine): Turn wheel to 3.5mm. Pattern and photos are ? Gralina Frie. This pattern is for personal and non-profit use only. Join side seams and sleeves using both half-stitch (for the rib section) and whole-stitch mattress stitch. Optional: Do not close lower rib edge to get the small open V at each side. Close all raglan seams. With smaller needles and right side facing, beginning at right back edge, work a rather firm 1x1 rib across all live sts. Join in a round, work 7 rounds and BO in rib, using a larger needle or rather loosely. Weave in all ends. Soak and block. Enjoy! Pattern and photos are ? Gralina Frie.
