Yarn: 1 (100 gm) skein worsted weight yarn in navy blue (MC) 1 (100 gm) skein worsted weight yarn in neon green (CC1) 25 gms worsted weight yarn in white (CC2) Needles: US size 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle, 16" US size 8 (5.0 mm) circular needles, 16" or 24" US size 8 (5.0 mm) DPNs \*\*Or size to obtain gauge\*\* auge: 18 sts and rows= 4" over stockinette stitch on larger needle Size: 22" head circumference

NOTES REGARDING SIZING:

1. Knitting this pattern as written results in a moderately large, slouchy hat. For a 20" circumference, knit the pattern as written, but at a gauge of 20 sts to 4"/ 2. Another option to add/subtract stitches to adjust for size, is to add/subtract repeats of chart A. This chart has 10 sts, so you could cast on 90, 100, 110, 120 sts, etc. ADDITIONAL NOTE: If you would like to knit the hat without the number 12, simply repeat chart A three times in place of chart B. This also would allow you to lengthen or shorten the body of the hat.

HAT:

With CC1 (neon green), cast on 100 sts; join to work in round, being careful not to twist stitches. Work \*k2, p2\* ribbing for 6 inches. IF you want to knit a different size, make sure you cast on a number that is divisible by 4. For example, if you want to knit a 90 stitch hat, cast on 88. On the first row with MC, increase two stitches, one at the beginning of the round, one at the halfway point. Change to MC (navy blue) and larger needles. Knit 3 rounds plain. Add CC2 (white) and work charts as follows: Rnds 1-24: Work Chart A two times, Chart B once, Chart A three times around hat. Chart A:

If you have cast on a different number of stitches, add or subtract the 10- stitches for Chart A at the beginning or end of the round, keeping Chart B basically in the middle. This is to keep the jog between rounds roughly in the back. Cut CC2. Knit 1 round with MC.

Crown decreases:

Rnd 1: \*K8, k2tog\*, repeat around. (90 sts). Rnd 2: Knit. Rnd 3: \*K7, k2tog\*, repeat around. (80 sts). Change to CC1. Rnd 4: Knit Rnd 5: \*K6, k2tog\*, repeat around. (70 sts). Rnd 6: Knit. Cut CC1, pick up MC. Rnd 7: \*K5, k2tog\*, repeat around. (60 sts). Rnd 8: Knit. Rnd 9: \*K4, k2tog\*, repeat around. (50 sts). Rnd 10: Knit. Rnd 11: \*K3, k2tog\*, repeat around. (40 sts). Rnd 12: Knit. Rnd 13: \*K2, k2tog\*, repeat around. (30 sts). Rnd 14: Knit. Rnd 15: \*K1, k2tog\*, repeat around. (20 sts). Rnd 16: Knit. Rnd 17: \*K2tog\*, repeat around. (10 sts). Cut yarn and thread through live stitches, pulling tight. Secure ends and weave in. Make a gigantic pompom if it makes you happy and attach to the top.
