Ting- Ting Hat
designed by Stacey Hsi A basic hat for keeping cosy in winter, with lines of double eyelets to add just a bit of interest. Or make you look like you're wearing a melon on your head. Whatever.

Available in three variations (fitted, slouchy, and squarish), this hat is a quick, easy knit that can be made tosuit anyone's tastes. Make them for all your friends, and your family - but don't forget to make one for yourself! Abbreviations: k: knit | p: purl | tbl: through back loop | yo: yarnover | sl: slip k2tog: knit 2 stitches together I psso: passover
Directions
With smaller needles, CO 120 sts and join in the round, placing a marker to mark the begining of the round. Knit in twisted rib for 8 rounds. Twisted Rib: [k1 tbl, pl], repeat to end of round. Switch to larger needles. R1: [Knit 17, yo, sll, k2tog, pass the slipped stitch over the stitch next to it and off the needle, yo], repeat five more times to end of round. R2: Knit. Repeat these two rounds until you have a total of 65 inches including ribing (for fitted version), 9 inches (for slouchy version), or 11 inches (for squarish version) of knitting.

Fitted & Slouchy Versions Decreases: Work the following decrease rounds, switching to magic loop or DPNs when needed. D1: K2tog, k13, ssk, yo, sll, k2tog, psso, yo. D2 and all even rounds: Knit. D3: K2tog, kll, ssk, yo, sll, k2tog, psso, yo. D5: K2tog, k9, ssk, yo, sll, k2tog, psso, yo. D7: K2tog, k7, ssk, yo, sll, k2tog, psso, yo. D9: K2tog, k5, ssk, yo, sll, k2tog, psso, yo. D11: K2tog, k3, ssk, yo, sll, k2tog, psso, yo. D13: K2tog, kl, ssk, yo, sll, k2tog, psso, yo. D15: K3tog, yo, sll,k2tog, psso, yo. D16: K2tog around (12 sts remain). Break yarn and draw through remaining stitches. Weave in the ends and you're done! :)

Squarish Version
Turn the hat inside out. Holding the needles parallel to each other, use a third needle to work a three-needle bindoff. Weave in all ends and turn your hat right-side out again. This creates a hat with cute, pointy corners - kind of squarish. Or, if you don't like that, you can also sew the two corners together on the inside of the hat for tapered corners instead.
