Body:

Back of the sweater:
Knit 56 (60, 64, 68) sts and then put the remaining stitches on hold on some waste yarn. Turn your work: this is the back of the sweater and you are going to work it back and forth. Continue even in st st until piece measures $8^{\mathfrak{p}}\left(9^{\mathfrak{p}},\,9.5^{\mathfrak{p}},\,10.5^{\mathfrak{p}}\right)$ from CO edge ending with a WS row. BO 18 (19, 20, 21) sts, leave the next 20 (22, 24, 26) sts on a holder for the neck, BO the next 18 (19, 20, 21) sts.

Put the 56 (60,64,68sts on holdon th waste yanback on theneedles and work back and forthutil the piece is measures from CO edge ending with a WS row. Knit 20 (21, 22, 23) sts, K2tog, K1. Put the remaining sts on a holder. Next row: Purl. Next row: Knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1, turn. Next row: Purl. Continue even in st st until piece measures $8^{\mathfrak{p}}\left(9^{\mathfrak{p}},\,9.5^{\mathfrak{p}},\,10.5^{\mathfrak{p}}\right)$ from CO edge ending with a WS row. Work 3 rows allknit for the garter stitch button band. Work next row for button holes: K4 (5, 5, 5) K2tog, YO, K3, K2tog, YO, K3, K2tog, YO, K4 (4, 5, 6). Knit 3 rows. BO these sts. Sleeves (make 2):
CO 30 (33, 37, 42) and join being careful not to twist the stitches; place a marker to indicate the beginning of the round. Round 1: $\bf{\nabla}^{\ast}\mathrm{K}1$ , $\mathrm{P1^{*}}$ repeat \* to \* all around. Repeat round 1 for $1^{\,,}$ Work 6 rounds in st st then start increases: K1, M1, K until last 2 sts, M1, K1. Finishing:
Block pieces tor assembly. Sew the shoulder. Sew the sleeve caps to the arm hole - note when sewing the shoulder seam that has the button bands you willned to verlap the button bands as if they are closedbefore sewing that shouler tothe sleeve. Sew the side seam and under arm seam Neck: Pick up and knit: back shoulder 10 sts, 20 (22, 24, 26) sts from holder, 4 sts from back shoulder, front shoulder 8 sts, 20 (22, 24, 26) sts from holder, 12 sts front shoulder for a total of 74 (78, 82, 86) sts. Repeat row onw 10 more times. BO all sts. Weave in all loose ends Attach buttons to the shoulder band.
