WRAPUINZEL
BY ViCKI ROBiMSON
So what is a person that freely admits that they can only crochet a straight line doing writing a crochet pattern? Consider it empowerment on paper my fellow straight line crocheters. Proudly take hold of that crochet hook and work that straight line. Feel the empowerment of WRAP(lvZEL! Inspired by Maude&Me's hand dyed polwarth fiber (Shadows colourway pictured), WRAPUIvZEL will be your most versatile item in your closet.
MATERiALS:
For long necklace: 4.5mm crochet hook For the cowl/high neckpiece: 5mm crochet hook For the head wrap: 5:5mm crochet hook Non-super wash Handspun yarn. Please see notes for spinners Toho (or large holed) beads optional

\~If beading your String Fling, pre thread your beads before starting to crochet. Slide them up to the needle and crochet in at random. Do not bring your beads up to 1 %" either side of centre back where you are joining loops. This will be hidden. DiRE(TioN>: Crochet a single chain to 40" and chain through the first loop with last one to close the circle. Continue for the next 40", closing that loop by crocheting into the join of the previous loop. Continue this way until you either have used most of your yarn or have enough loops for your preference. The headpiece pictured has 23 loops; the neckpiece pictured at right is the beaded version with 13 loops.

(OVERiNG THE JOiN AT BACK:
Holding the yarn across the top of the joins, reaching under, catch the yarn pulling it through the stitch on your hook. Now reach over the join to grab the yarn, pulling it through the stitch on your hook. Continue this way until you have about 2" of WRAPQvZeL bound. Cut the yarn and either with your hook or yarn needle, pull the end through the bound section. Trim.

Now you have finished WRAP(IvZEl, put it into a lingerie laundry bag throw into your washing machine. For optimal results, use a bit of laundry soap, hot water, smallest load and throw in a towel or 2. Of course you can skip this process entirely and just wear and enjoy!
NOTES FOR SPiMMERS:
\~My handspun used for this project used a braid of Maude&Me Polwarth in Shadows colourway with the resulting yarn being 182.0 yards (166.4 m) of 10 wpi Navajo plied. \~Maude&Me fibers can be purchased through http://www.maudeandme.etsy.com \~Navajo Plying is a wonderful way to produce lengths of pure colour in your yarn. There are a lot of useful tutorials online but the basic idea is..it's just like crocheting a long single chain!
