Innocent Granny Stitch Hat Crochet Pattern
This is an easy and quick to make little hat that is very stylish and of the moment. There is quite a few ends to weave in. Embellish it as you wish and trim it any which way.

Yarn: Any DK acrylic or wool based yarn. Cottons may need to tested for stretch. Hook size: 3.5 mm (lf your tension is very loose, change to a 3mm hook.) Materials: Yarn needle and scissors. Finished size: To fit a standard Innocent Drink bottle.

Pattern:
Row 1: ch 4, 1 tr into 3"d ch from hk, ch 1, (2 tr, ch 1) into same space three times. (Unused 3 ch counts as a tr here). Join with a sl st to 3'd ch of beg 4-ch. FO. [4 x 2 tr with 1 ch sp between] Row 2: With new col, join into a 1-ch sp, ch 3 (counts as an tr here and throughout), (1 tr, ch 1, 2 tr) into same sp as joining, (2 tr, ch 1, 2 tr) into next 1-ch sp three times, Join with sl st to 3'd ch of beg 3-ch. [16 tr]. (Note there is not a ch 1 between each grouping of (2tr, ch1, 2 tr) as this helps to curl the hat.) Row 3: With new col, join into a 1-ch sp, ch 3, 2 tr into same sp, (ch 1, 3 tr into next sp between next 2tr group, ch 1, 3 tr into next 1-ch sp) around, ch 1. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg 3-ch. [8 x 3tr groups] Row 4: With new colour, join into a 1-ch sp, ch 3, 2 tr into the same sp, ( ch 1, 3 tr into next 1-ch sp) around, ch 1. Join with sl st to 3"d ch of beg 3-ch. [8 x 3tr groups]. Fasten off and weave in ends - except for the centre one which can be used to help secure the pom-pom. It is unnecessary to block this yarn. Pom-pom: Make a simple pom-pom by wrapping yarn 10 times around 4 of your fingers. Tie very tightly in the centre. Pull through the ties to the wrong side of the hat and stitch once through the hat and through the main part of the pom-pom. Tie securely to the centre beginning tail. Trim neatly.
