Cable needle (or double-point needle in a similar size) | |
24 sts and 19 rows = 4 inches on Size 10 1/2 needles in k1 p1 rib | |
Gauge: Size: | 2 7/8 inches wide by 45 (57, 69) inches long |
NOTE: This pattern can be made with bulky yarn such as Loops & Threads Charisma (8 repeats = 4" by 38")or Lion's Pride Woolspun (9 repeats = 3 3/4" by 40").See photo top right for bulky version. Use same needles. If you want a longer scarf, use two balls. |

Scarf Instructions:
n 20 sts. Use a long-tail cast on, or whatever one is most comfortable for you Row 1 (WS): Sl 1 pwise wyif (see S-1), yb (see S-2), (k1, p1) 9 times, k1. Turn. (To mark first row, pm on the 2nd st of this row, from the RS—see S-3).) Rows 2-7: Rep Row 1. At the end of Row 7, there should be 6 sts above the stitch marker (see S-4). Row 8: Sl 1 pwise wyif, yb, k1, p1, k1, sl 6 to CN and hold in front (see S-5\*), (p1, k1) 3 times from LN (see S-6 and S-7), (p1, k1) 3 times from CN (see S-8), (p1, k1) 2 times from LN (see S-9-S-10). Pm on 2nd st of this row to facilitate counting rows. Rows 9-23: Rep Row 1. Row 24: Rep Row 8. \* For Rows 1-7, the stitch marker will be on the back side, not visible as in S-5 through S-9.

Bind off loosely in pattern. If you desire a longer scarf, do as many repeats as desired, then work Rows 1-7 to finish (Rows 1-7 and bind-off will measure about 2 inches). Tip: When counting rows, after Row 7 the marked stitch is in the cable crossing row, which is the last row of the repeat. Work until you have 15 sts in the column above this stitch, then work the next cable crossingrow.
