Campanula Skirt
Skirt to accompany Campanula by Celeste Pinheiro, Knitter's Magazine K86 Spring 2007 ByPatty Nance This pattern is intended to accompany the sweater in Knitter's Magazine, not as a stand-alone design. As such, several references are made to the pattern in the magazine. Some standard pattern instructions are omitted.The skirt constructionis equivalent to two sweater back pieces, without the armhole shaping. A waistline casing is added for inserting elastic. As a general guideline, use the same yarn in the same quantity as you would for the sweater. This will vary depending on thefinished skirt length. Skll Level: intermealate $^+$ Size: S (M, L, 1X) Fit: Loose, comfortable fit Finished Measurements (inches): Length 23 (23, $23\;\%$ $24\,^{1\!}/_{2}$ ) or to desired length, Width at hips 18 ( $19\,\%$ , $21\,\%$ ,23) Materials: Yarn, needles: Same as for the sweater; 1'" wide elastic for waist, in a comfortable length Gauge: Over Chart C, using larger needles, 20 sts & $31\ \mathrm{rows}=4^{\circ}/10\mathrm{cm}$ after blocking Back and Front: se original patt. Work both piecesto desired length; discontinue lace patn and knit 3 rows plain.


Waistline casing: With smaller needles, work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures $1\%$ inches from where the lace pattrn ended, stopping afr working a right side row.With wrong side facing, knit one row.This wil form a ridge for turning the casing. Continue in Stst until piece measures about $1\%$ inches from turning ridge. Bind off. Finishing: Block pieces. Sew side seams. Fold waistline at turning ridge and sew edge to form a casing, leaving an opening for inserting elastic. Insert lastic, try on skirt and adjust elastic as needed Stitch ends of elastic together y hand or machine using sewing thread. Sew the opening closed. Weave in ends, if any.
