Felted Bowls
Simple, verSatile bowls in two Sizes. Ideal for first time Knitting in the round or felting. by Kelly Kingston for Tangled Yarns FINISHED MEASUREMENTS (this may vary depending on how much you felt the bowls) Worsted weight: approximately 7cm height, 13cm diameter Super Bulky weight: approximately 8cm height, 16cm diameter Gaugeis not critical forthispattern, as long as you are happy with thefabric created. Thismay affect thefinal size of the project along with the yarn amounts required.
MATERIALS
Yarn -
65g / 130 metres of Worsted (total amount - hold double stranded) 120g / 100 metres of Super Bulky
Needles -
8.00mm (worsted) or 10.00mm (bulky) 40cm circular needle plus corresponding double point needles (or 80cm circular needle for magic loop) Notions - Scissors, darning needle, stitch marker(s) and a washing machine for felting

K - Knit P- Purl K2tog - Knit two stitches together PM - Place marker
Pattern

Using 8.00mm (10.00mm) circular needles cast on 63 stitches. Being careful not to twist your stitches, place marker

(PM) join to knit in the round. Knit 20 rounds in garter stitch (K one round, P one round). The easiest way to count the rounds in garter stitch is to count the garter stitch ridges.

You will decrease for the base of the basket over the next 13 rounds. Round 1: \*K2tog, K7, repeat from \* until end of round (56 stitches) Round 2: Purl Round 3: \*K2tog, K6, repeat from \* until end of round (49 stitches) Round 4: Purl Round 5: \*K2tog, K5, repeat from \* until end of round (42 stitches) Round 6: Purl Round 7: \*K2tog, K4, repeat from \* until end of round (35 stitches) Round 8: Purl Round 9: \*K2tog, K3, repeat from \* until end of round (28 stitches) Round 10: Purl Round 11: \*K2tog, repeat from \* until end of round (14 stitches) Round 12: Purl Round 13: \*K2tog, repeat from \* until end of round (7 stitches) Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. With darning needle thread tail through the remaining 7 stitches before removing the needle and pull tight to close the base of the bowl. Weave in ends. Felt by putting finished bowl through a hot wash in the washing machine with an old tennis ball or pair of jeans for extra agitation.
