Frilly Crochet Edging By Penny Peberdy @

This edging is worked directly onto the article. Mine was a curtain, but you could edge a towel, tea towel, mat, skirt,- anything you like!
Materials
Mercerised crochet cotton - no. 8 (mine was DECO8 - made in Bulgaria and distributed in France by DISTRIFIL) 2.5mm crochet hook ruler marked in centimetres Heavy sharp needle or broderie anglaise awl to pierce cloth
Method
Mark along the edge of your article in 1cm increments. (You don't have to do this all in one go). Make a hole with your needle or awl and attach the crochet cotton. Work 1dc in the same place. Do not draw up the stitch tightly unless you want to 'scallop' the edge of the article. Make 3ch. Foundation row: Continue working 1dc and 3ch at 1cm interval marks to the end of the edge you are trimming. You may have to fudge the ends a bit to fit the article. Turn your work and work as follows: Row 2: Work a V-stitch (1tr, 2ch, 1tr) into each dc of previous row and a dc into each 3ch loop. Row 3: work a dc into the first V-stitch, then 7tr into the next V-stitch. Carry on in this manner to the end of the row. Turn work
Final Row - Edging:
Work (1dc, 2ch) into each stitch of 3rd row. This gives a pretty, frilly edge.
