PATTERN NOTES:
\* For a tighter fit, consider knitting ribbing using a size smaller needles than the body of the hat. \* Try on as you go & add extras repeats if you want more of a slouch \*At the end of round 5, the pattern shifts over one st. To do this - remove the beginning-of-round marker. Knit 1 stitch. Replace beginning-of-round marker at current position.
ABBREVIATIONS:
·K -Knit ·YO -Yarn Over \* K2tog - Knit two sts together \* M1 - Make One: Using the horizontal stand of yarn between two stitches in the row below, insert your needle tip into the strand from back to front (the needle will be moving toward you). This results in the strand being twisted when it is placed on the left needle. Knit into the front loop as is the usual knit method.

DIRECTIONS
CO 72 sts using the long tail cast-on; divide evenly over 4 DPNs - or use magic loop. Join in the round being sure not to twist sts; place st marker at beginning of round. Work in 2x2 ribbing (k2, p2) for 2".
INCREASE ROUND
\*k2, ml ; repeat from\* to end of round. Note: your last st will be an m1. You will now have 108 sts.
BoDY
Work the pattern repeat 8 times for a total of 40 rounds. Try on & add more repeats for a slouchier hat. 1: \*k4, k2tog, yo; rep from \* to end of round 2: \*k3, k2tog, k1, yo; rep from \* to end of round 3: \*k2, k2tog, k2, yo; rep from \* to end of round 4: \*k1, k2tog, k3, yo; rep from \* to end of round 5: \*k2tog, k4, yo; rep from \*, to end of round Remove beginning-of-round marker. Knit 1 stitch. Replace beginning-of-round marker at current position.
DECREASES
Next round: \*k10 k2tog; rep from \* to end of round Next round: \*k9, k2tog; rep from \* to end of the round Next round: \*k8, k2tog; rep from \* to end of the round Next round: \*k7, k2tog; rep from \* to end of the round Next round: \*k6, k2tog; rep from \* to end of the round Next round: \*k5, k2tog; rep from \* to end of the round Continue in this manner, decreasing by one until you have 9 sts remaining.
