Redwood Soul by Sherry Lisby
Difficulty [Intermediate] This hat was inspired in part by baskets woven by various tribes of the Northern California area and by the redwood forest, which is unique to Northern California. The brim utilizes a slip stitch pattern to create the look of a woven basket. The colors used in this set represent the brown bark of the trees; the green of the forest vegetation; and the rich black earth that nourishes the forests. The white line represents the story of the redwood tree's life. SIZE One size fits most adults. PATTERN NOTES
When working the chart section, be sure not to strand the color not in use over more than 4 sts in back of the work. The stranded yarn should not be pulled tightly, as doing so will cause the charted section to be tight and/or pucker. When changing colors, utilize the seamless jog method to avoid breaks in the color at the beginning of the rounds The sts have been calculated to accommodate the chart pattern in multiples of 6. To increase the size for the hat, go up in needle size or add sts during CO in multiples of 6.

ABOUTTHEDESIGNER
Sherry Lisby taught herself to knit in January 2008 and hasn't looked back since! Most of her knitting is done on order for friends, family and co-workers, although occasionally she sneaks in a few items for herself. She has recently begun designing her own patterns and has also learned how to crochet, spin & weave. She is looking forward to a long love affair with anything related to fiber!
