Materials: Donegal aran tweed Size L shown on photos: 85 grams lilac (A) 36 grams purple (B) 30 grams light grey (C) 17 grams cerise (D) (or any aran weight yarn) circular knitting needle 5 mm (60 cm) tapestry needle stitch marker Abbreviations: sts = stitches K= knit p= purl sl = slip stst = stocking stitch Gauge: 10 x10 cm (4 x 4 inch) = 15 sts x 21 rows in stst with 5 mm Note: you can size the pattern up or down by casting on 8 sts more or less.
Multicoloured cowl

Cast on 96 sts (size XS), 104 sts (size S-M), 112 sts (size L), 120 sts (XL) with colour A. Purl one row. Join in the round, making sure not to twist your stitches and place a marker at beginning of round. Start following 20 row pattern: 1. purl (with colour A) 2. purl (A) 3. purl (A) 4. (with colour B) \* K3, sl2, K3 \*, repeat \* - \* until end of round. 5. as row 4 6. as row 4 7. \* K3, P2, K3 \*, repeat \* - \* until end of round. The K3 sts with colour B and the P2 sts with colour A. 8.as row 4 9. as row 4 10. as row 4 but with colour A. 11. purl (A) 12. purl (A) 13. purl (A) 14. (colour C) \* sll, K6, sl1 \*, repeat \* - \* until end of round. 15.as row 14 16.as row 14 17. \* P1, K6, P1 \*, repeat \* - \* until end of round. The K6 sts with colour C and the P1 sts with A. 18.as row 14 19.as row 14 20. as row 14 but with colour A. Repeat this 20 row pattern 4 more times (bring in the different colours of your choice starting on row 4-9 and 14-19). Purl 3 rows with color A. Bind off purl wise. Sew in loose ends.
