NOTES
Finished size: The finished heart is approximately 7cm high x 8cm wide. Work flat: All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles. Tension: The tension is approximately 22 sts x 28 rows for a 10cm x 10cm square in stockinette stitch on 4mm needles. Don't worry too much about tension for this pattern. Casting on: Unless otherwise specified, I prefer to use the long tail cast on for all pieces. Sewing seams: Use mattress stitch to sew the seams.

Row 7: purl the 9 sts for the second heart top, then put the held sts for the first heart top on the needle with the WS facing you, and purl across those 9 sts to join the two tops for a total of 18 sts Row 8: k8, k2tog, k8 (17 sts) Row 9: p (17 sts) row 10: ssk, k to the last 2 sts, k2tog (15 sts) Row 11: p (15 sts) Rows 1 0 23: rep rows 10 and 11 six times (3 sts) Row 24: sl 1, k2tog, psso (1 st) Bind off. Making up: Pin the two heart pieces together and sew around the edges, adding a little stuffing as you sew. I used mattress stitch to sew my hearts together for a neat join. To make a hanging decoration or bag charm, thread a length of narrow ribbon on a darning needle and through the top of the heart, and knot in place.
