Seven Skeins Remains Poppy Hat

Size: One size fits average adult. Circumference approximately 22" Turned up edge to crown approximately 8 1/2"
Materials:
Yarn - Buachaille 2ply worsted wool 120y/110m/50g skei A: Squall - 30g (Grey Brown) B: Highland Coo - 8g (Orange) C: Islay - 7g (Teal Green) D: Between Weathers - 7g (Blue) E: Yaffle - 4g (Light Green) F: Ptarmingan - 4g (White) G: Haar - 1g (Beige)
Needles
US 3 or UK 3.25mm 16" circular needle for ribbing US 4 or UK 3.5mm 16" circular needle for pattern US 4 or UK 3.5mm double pointed (or magic loop) when needed for crown Tapestry needle for weaving in ends & center stitches at crown Gauge 24 stitches/28 rows = 4" x 4" swatch

k= Knit p= Purl ml = Make 1 k2tog = Knit 2 together pm = Place Marker
Intructions:
\~With size 3 (3.25) needle and color A (Squall) use the long-tail method to cast on 96 stitches. \~Work k2/p2 ribbing in the round for 24 rows. \~Next row, \*k2/p2/m1\* repeat to end of row, adding 24 new stitches \~Next row (row 25 on chart): switch to 4 (3.5) circular needle k (120 stitches), pm \~Follow chart from R to L (repeat chart once for a complete row) \~Row 50 on chart (row count includes ribbing) begin decreasing; k2tog as shown \~Last row (10 stitches). Break yarn and thread through with tapestry needle. Pull tight and fasten off with remaining yarn hanging inside the hat. \~Tip of crown: Thread the tapestry needle with about 12" of Ptarmigan and embroider a small star or flower at the center of the crow (center of poppy) \~Weave in ends. Wash in warm water with gentle soap. Block by allowing hat to dry over bowl or round ball. Smooth out stitches. Be careful to not over stretch. Long Tail Cast on 96 stitches \*K2 P2\* to end of row. Continue \*K2 P2\* rib for 23 additional rounds Round 25: \*k2, p2, m1\* repeat. total 120 stitches. pm (carry m forward each row) Round 26 through 50, 120 stitches, follow chart for pattern Round 51: \*k10, k2tog\* x10 Round 52: k Round 53: \*k9, k2tog\* repeat x10 Round 54: k Round 55: \*k8, k2tog\* Round 56: k Round 57: \*k7, k2tog\* repeat x10 Round 58: k Round 59: \*k6, k2tog\* repeat x10 Round 60: k Round 61: \*k5, k2tog\* repeat x10 Round 62: k Round 63: \*k4, k2tog\* repeat x10 Round 64: k Round 65: \*k3, k2tog\* repeat x10 Round 66: k Round 67: k Round 68: \*k1, k2tog\* repeat x10 Round 69: k2tog, repeat x10 Thread yarn through remaining stitches, pull tight, fasten securely
