Supplies:
1 skein of fingering sock yarn approximately 300 yards 1 set size 5 DPN 2 size 5 circular needles at least 16 inches in length 2 stitch markers tapestry needle 5-6 safety pins or stitch holders Fyl: The sock is knit with the yarn held double throughout. There are three sizes given. Small is for a woman's size 5-6, Medium is for a size 7-8 and large is for a size 9-10. cut a 24 inch piece of yarn and set aside for the mattress stitch.

Let's get started! Sole and heel back: Cast on 8 stitches onto your DPN. You will work in garter stitch for this entire section. Knit 2 rounds. K3 rows. Repeat increase round. Continue in this pattern until you have 16 stitches on your needle. Continue in garter stitch until you have knit 30 rounds total, or 15 ridges to count. Decrease round: K1, k2toa. knit until 3 stitches from end k2toa. K1. K3 rows. Repeat decrease round. Continue in this pattern until there are 10 stitches left on your needle. Continue in garter stitch until you have 41, 45, 49 ridges total. Place a removable stitch marker on both sides of the 35th, 39th, 43rd ridge. Cut yarn leaving a 12 inch tail. Leave these ten stitches on your DPN. You will pick them up later.

Page: 2 Sides of foot: Using your size 5 circular needles you will use one needle down each side of the foot. With 1st needle pick up and knit 35, 39, 43 stitches along the side of the foot and 3 stitches across the ball of the foot. With the second needle pick up and knit three stitches across the ball of the foot and 35, 39, 43 stitches along the side of the foot. Row 1: flip work P 18, 22, 26 Place marker. P to end of needle. Next needle: P 20 place marker, P until the end. Row 2: flip work K to M, SM, SSK, K to end of needles one. Needle two K to 2 stitches before marker, K2tog, K to end. Row 3: flip work Purl all stitches Repeat Row 2 and 3 until 12 row are complete. Remove markers Mattress stitch heel to sides using the tails that remain or extra yarn.

Ankle edge and top of foot: Pick up the heel stitch and P the 10 heel stitches that were saved on the DPN. Readjusting stitches placing 5 stitches on needle one and 5 stitches on needle two. P 6, 10, 14 place marker. P to end of needle one. Needle two P 26 place marker, P until the end. Row 14 and 15: P until marker, SM, K to the end of needle one. Needle two K to marker, SM, P to end. Row 16: P until marker, SM, K to end of needle one. Needle two, K to marker. Remove marker and Bind off all P stitches. Row 17: Continue to bind off all Purl stitches. Remove marker K until 2 stitches before the end of needle one bind off last 2 stitches on needle one and first 2 stitches on needle two. K remaining stitches. 24 stitches remain on each needle. Straps: You will be working the 12 stitches closest to the heel on each needle. Using DPNs knit three sets of 4-stitch I-cords on each needle. Leaving a long enough tail to adjust length and use the kitchener stitch to attach to remaining twelve stitches. Tail 1 (closet to heel) 2 inches. Tail 2 2 inches Tail 3 2 inches these lengths can be adjusted to fit your foot. Using a basket weave pattern weave I-cords under and over each other. Using the kitchener stitch attach Tail 1 to first 4 stitches, Tail 2 to middle 4 stitches and Tail 3 to the stitches closest to the toes. Weave in the ends.
