Pattern illustration

This lacy little hat is great for the baby who doesn't seem to like hats. It's easy to put on her head, and so loose and stretchy that even a persnickety little one seems to hardly notice it. Slightly flared brim helps keep breeze and sun out of baby's face, and ribbon can be tightened, loosened, or strung to tie under the chin. Difficulty level Easy to Intermediate Size $\mathsf{\pmb{\mathscr{s}}}(\mathbb{M},\mathsf{L})$ Small - newborn to 3 months Medium - 3-9 months Large - 9-18 months

Put a stitch marker at beginning of round and knitting in the round, knit 9(10/12) rows. Scalloped edge to turn hem: $\ast\mathsf{k}_{2}$ ,k2tog, $\mathsf{y o}^{*}$ to end. Knit 9(10/12) rounds. Combine cast-on stitches with stitches on needles as follows: Put provisional cast-on stitches on a second circular needle. Then sl 1 st from first needle, 1 st from the second needle, alternating this way until all sts are combined on 1 needle. Next Row: k2tog to secure hem and decrease stitches on needle from 176(208/240) to 88(104/120).
