
Doc Hudson Sweater ? Margaret Zellner March 29 2011 This sweater is knit from the bottom following a chart. The details are added in chain stitch embroidery. The pattern produces a size 4 sweater butcan be modified by changing the number of rows and colum ns in the chart. Materials:Red Heart SoftTouch,5 skeins darkblue,color 4604.Small amounts of white, black, red, and grey. Needles: 4.5 mm straight, circular, and D P. Cast on 138 ston circular needle and rib (k1 p1) in round for 12 rows. Decrease 10 st evenly spaced and continue in stockinette for 10 rounds. Knit back and forth from star at right side ofchart, adding 1 edge st. Knit around the 128 st in pattern, add 1 st, turn, pun back in pattern to make wheels and black back ground for gril. At top of wheels, k2tog at edges, and rejoin. C ontinue in round on 128 st for 35 rows to armholes, completing blackfor grill. Divide into front and back. Follow chart for white windshield (blue center stripe added at end in chain st ) and for shaping armholes, neck, and shoulders. Sleeves:Caston34 st,join and rib in round onDP needlesfor 10rows.Decrease 4st evenly around and continue in stockinette on 30 st. Increase 1 st atbeginning and end ofround at 10 rows then at every 6th row to 50 st. Knit until sleeve is 12 inches or desired length. Bind off 3 st at beginning and end of round. Decrease 1 st at each edge, every other row 4 times, then every row 6 times to 12 st. Bind off. Chain stitch eyes, headlights, grill, running lights, hub caps, lines on sleev es. Outine winds hield any other detals as desired. Sew shoulders, pick up 64 st around neck and rib in round for 6 rows; use stretchy bind off. Sew in sleeves and sew edges at star.
