Cranberry Hat with Simple Chevron
YaYaLovesToKnit This is the 5th pattern for the hats I'm knitting as part of the 2013 hats for kids project. Size: Circumference of the hat is 17" at the ribbed band, but stretchable. Suitable for a child in 2nd thru 4th grades. NOTE: The size of hat is easily adjusted for larger sizes by adding cast-on stitches in multiples of 8, and knitting additional rounds in the body of the hat and adjusting the decreases for the crown of the hat. Yarn: Worsted weight yarn. The sample hat was knit using less than half a skein of Loops & Thread Impeccable in Claret (4.5 oz/128 g, 268 /245 m per skein). The completed sample hat only weighed 1-1/2 oz/43 g.
Needles:
16" US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needles 16" US 8 (5 mm) circular needles US 8 double-pointed needles Other tools: stitch marker, darning needle Gauge: Not significant for this pattern, but the gauge for the sample hat was 20 stitches x 23 rows for a 4" square.
