Materials
200 yards worsted weight yarn. Sample made with 1 skein Stitchjones Dyepot Worsted Handpaint in Grove Valentine 4 dpn, US 5
Cuff
Cast on 40 stitches. Divide among 3 dpn as follows: 13 sts on needle 1, 14 sts on needle 2, 13 sts on needle 3. Join and work K1, P1 rib for 8 rounds, 1" or until ribbing is desired length.
Leg
Begin Seed Rib stitch pattern: Round 1: Knit. Round 2: \*K4, P1\* around. Repeat these 2 rounds until work measures 6"' or desired length from cast on edge.
Heel Flap
K 10 stitches. Turn work and purl the same 10 stitches plus 10 stitches from Needle 3 onto one needle: 20 stitches for heel flap. Hold all instep stitches on one needle. Work heel flap as follows: Row 1 - Slip 1, knit to end. Row 2 - Slip 1, purl to end. Repeat these 2 rows until heel flap measures 2.5", ending by working a purl row.
Heel Turn
Row 1: K10, ssk, K1, turn. Row 2: Slip 1, P2tog, P1, turn. Row 3: Slip 1, K2, ssk, K1, turn. Row 4: Slip 1, P3, P2tog, P1, turn. Row 5: Slip 1, K4, ssk, K1, turn. Continue working in this manner until all heel stitches are worked. 12 stitches remain and right side of work is facing you.
Gusset

Work 1 round even. Begin gusset decreases: Round1 Needle 1: Knit to last 3 stitches on needle, K2tog, K1. Needle 2: Work all instep sts in Seed Rib pattern. Needle 3: K1, ssk, knit to end. Round2 Needle 1: Knit. Needle 2: Work all instep sts in Seed Rib pattern. Needle 3: Knit. Repeat these 2 rounds until there are 10 stitches on Needle 1 and 10 stitches on Needle 3.
Foot
Continue working Round 2 until foot is 2" shorter than desired length. Begin toe decreases.
Toe
Round1 Needle 1: Knit to last 3 stitches, K2tog, K1. Needle 2: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 stitches, K2tog, K1. Needle 3: K1, ssk, knit to end. Round 2 Knit all stitches. stitches remain. Break yarn; thread yarn end through tapestry needle. Pull yarn through remaining stitches a couple of times to tighten. Secure yarn end. Repeat for second sock. Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until 20 stitches remain, then work Round 1 only until 8
