Nose
SEW THE NOSE ON BEFORE THE OTHER FACIAL FEATURES TO HELP PLACE THE EYES AND MOUTH EVENLY. Next, sew on the eyes, and the mouth last. 1.With Black, make the Magic Ring (tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLUaywX0- WE) 2.Sc 4 times in the ring. 3.Sc 1 time in each sc. Tie off. Boys eyes (For the girls eyes I used cotton thread and the smaller hook because her hair and hair bow werecrowdingherface,) 1. Using the G hook and Black, make the Magic Ring. 2. Sc 4 times in the ring, change to white, 2 sc in each sc. Tie off.
Girls eyes
1. With the Size 2 hook and Black cotton thread, ch 6, sl st in the first ch to form a ring. 2. Sc 6 times in the ring, BUT change to White before completing the last sc. 3. Sc 3 times in each sc arnd, sl st in the next 2 sc and tie off. 4. Mouth - This part can be difficult. I recommend making a "swatch" of the pumpkin head to practice on before attempting to add the mouth to the scarf. Optional mouth: You may want to make a chain to your desired length for the mouth, and just sew that in place. But, if you're up for a challenge, follow the instructionsbelow. Count over 4 dc from the right (with the pumpkin facing you) and join the yarn (Black for the boy, Shocking Pink for the girl) with a sc in the fourth dc. You will be crocheting "around" that dc stitch and the dc stitches to follow. It will help to hold the face sideways to begin the sc stitches and work your way around to the other side of the face. You might want to try (with the swatch) 2 sc stitches around each dc for bigger lips. For a mouth that hangs a little lower, drop down to the next row of dc, but remember that the Boy will be wearing a bow tie. So, you don't want the mouth to be hidden by the Bow tie. The Bow Tie could be made a little smaller, so feel free to experiment with a shorter beginning chain and sc rows.
Boys Bow Tie/Hair Bow
With the G hook and Black, ch 5, sc in the second ch from the hook and in each ch acr. Ch 1, turn, sc across for 9 more rows. Tie off. Pinch the bow tie together in the middle and run a few stitches through the middle. Tie off. Girls Hair Bow - With the G hook and Blacklight, rep instructions for the Bow Tie. Sew the Bow Tie/Hair Bow in place with needle and thread. I sewed through the middle of the bow tie first, and then made a few stitches threw each side (down the middle) of the bow tie. Optional: I added a little sparkle to the Bow Ties with sparkly nail polish. You might try a small shiny button as well. Machine washing is okay, but air dry only.
