Abbreviations.
C4F Slip next 2 stitches onto cable needle and leave at front of work. K2, then K2 from cable needle C4B Slip next 2 stitches onto cable needle and leave at back of work. Notes.
I knitted 10 of both the purple and cream squares with the edging. This pattern, when finished should 'ruche' at the top...as I stitched the squares together- it worked itself out. Also, as I was knitting for a baby, I noticed that there were 'holes' where I'd been cabling at the top of the head, the neck and the feet of the owl. At the end, I sewed a few stitches in these places. I also added some of the contrasting colour (purple) where the eyes are meant to be, using simple some embroidery techniques. You can add buttons if you prefer.
