Ch 31, without twisting ch, join with sl st in first ch. Work Rnds 1-8 of pattern.
Special stitches
Scblo (single crochet in back loop only): Work as for single crochet inserting hook through the back loop only of the sc in row below. J-st (J-stitch): (worked over 3 sts) Yo, insert hook in first st, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook in second st, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook in third st, yo, pull up a loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook) 4 times.
Flamenco Cowl Pattern
Ch 142, without twisting ch, join with sl st in first ch. Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st in first sc--142 sc. Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with sl st in first sc. Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), \*J-st in next 3 sc, ch 2; rep from \* around, join with sl st in beg ch3—47 J-sts, 47 ch-2 sps. Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, $\star_{S C}$ in next J-st, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp; rep from \* around, join with sl st in beg ch-3—142 sc.
