(leave the middle 10 ribbed stitches on a holder.. you never ever have to worry about them again.. plus its not like you guys were best friends or anything.. i mean you did turn your back on them.. i think its best just to move on...) ROW 16 purl (working on 18 sts) ROW 17 knit continue in this fashion working the body of the foot... try the slipper on.. when it comes to your ankle bone (about 7" total for 71/2 foot) you are ready to TURN the HEEL.. you have just finished a PURL row... there are lots of good tutorials online for turning a short row heel.. you can do this any way youd like...but heres the way i did it: SKIP TO THE $*\wedge_{\mathbf{V}}\wedge*$ if you want to skip my heel turning extravaganza... $*_{\mathrm{K}15}$ , turn \*put the yarn in back as if to knit but purl (you made a "seed") now purl to the end stopping before the last 3 stitches..turn 1. put yarn in front as if to purl but knit, then knit to the "seed" at the end of the row stop and turn. 2. put yarn in back as if to knit but purl, then purl to the "seed" at the end of the row stop and turn. repeat these two rows until you have 6 stitches in the middle left "un-seeded" you should be at the end of a K row.(im not trying to boss you.just trying to help) second half of heel: still at the end of your knit row with a "seed" right in front of you?. good. \*knit the first weird wrappy stitch of your "seed", then knit the next 2 stitches together.. (your seeds look like couples kindof..if it helps you can imagine you knit jennifer first and then put brad and angie together in a cozy K2tog)..TURN. \*make seed, purl to next seed.. purl the first weird wrappy stitch of your seed and then purl the next 2 stitches together... (people have to break up.. its natural) TURN. 1. make seed, knit to next seed. knit the first stitch of the seed then knit the next 3 together, turn 2. make seed, purl to next seed. purl the first stitch of the seed then purl the next 3 together, turn. repeat these last 2 rows until all your seeds are gone... (then repeat the 2 rows ONE LAST TIME.) then when you nearing the end of your knit row, you are DONE dont turn. :) \*八v八\* you have live stitches at the heel and on your stitch holder. hold on. get your vintage lace. or ribbons... or icord.. or shoelaces handy... thread them through your live stitches (starting at the mid top of foot) and weave along the sides .. tie big old vintage fluffy bow in front and put them on for some seriously quiet tap dancing! any questions? ask your mom! just kidding.. you can ask me. lots of love, tiny owl knits
