ridgeline
...a celebration of contrast, ridgeline pairs soft, airy fabric with dense horizontal ridges to create an overall effect of lofty, yet grounded work. The ridge detail creates a textural interruption of the light stockinette, causing the fabric to gather gently and lending additional texture and depth to the garment.

instructions
Using smaller needles, CO 160 sts with MC. Place marker (pm) and join in the round. Knit 3 rows. Change to larger needles and knit 9 rows. Make a ridge: Change to smaller needles and CC. Knit 5 rows. At the beginning of the next row, find the purl bump 5 rows below the next stitch on the needle - it will be the first row of CC purl bumps. Insert right hand needle from the bottom up into the purl bump, place it on the left hand needle, and knit it together with the next stitch. Continue until all stitches are knit together with their corresponding purl bump and a ridge is formed. Make a ruche: Change to MC and knit 1 row. Change to larger needles and knit 9 rows. Continue to alternate ridge and ruche 6 more times ending with a ridge. You should have created 7 ridges. Change to MC and knit 1 row. Change to larger needles and knit 8 rows. Change to smaller needles and knit 3 rows. Bind off loosely. Block gently. Weave in ends.
