For years, these have been my all-time favourite legwarmers. Over tights, with shorts, under track pants. Long enough to pull up over the knee, or slouched down over cold feet.

MateriaLS:

Approx. 440 yards of Northbound Knitting Superwash Merino Worsted Colour A=360 yards, Colour B=40 yards, Colour C=40 yards Size US 7 (4.5 mm) dpns (or size needed to obtain gauge) Stitch marker Tapestryneedle

GauGe:

4 sts=1 inch in stockinette stitch FinisHeD MeasuremenTs: Circumference at thigh= 14' Length= 26"

K=Knit P=Purl St(s)=Stitch(es) Pm=Place marker Sm=Slip marker K2tog=Knit 2 sts together

DIrecTions:

Ribbing Section:

With colour A, cast on 56 sts. Pm and join to work in the round, careful to not twist sts. Work in k3, p1 ribbing for 2". Switch to colour B and knit one round. Work in k3, p1 ribbing for one round. Switch to colour C and knit one round. Work in k3, p1 ribbing for 6 rounds. Switch to colour B and knit one round. Work in k3, p1 ribbing for one round. Switch back to colour A and continue to work in k3, p1 ribbing for 2".

Stockinette Section:

Still using colour A, work in stockinette stitch for 3". Next round: \*K12, k2tog; repeat from \* to end of round. Work in stockinette stitch for another 3". Next round: \*K11, k2tog; repeat from \* to end of round. Work in stockinette stitch for another 3". Next round: \*K1o, k2tog; repeat from to end of round. 1 stockinette stitch until legwarmer measures 23.5" from cast on edge or desired length

Garter Stitch Section:

Work in garter stitch (purl one round, knit the next round) for 14 rounds. Bind off all sts loosely knitwise.

FINISHING:
