WINTER STORM CLOUDS

This pattern was designed to create a textured, fluffy and squishy scarf that can be wrapped at least twice and still drape to the hips. I combined several stitch and design elements to show off variegated yarns in a way to prevent pooling, but the scarf looks equally good with a solid or semi-solid yarn. Depending on the chosen yarn, the mock rib texture can be emphasized or blended. Size can be increased or decreased by varying the stitch count by sets of 3 in EVEN amounts (i.e., 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 stitches). To make stole/wrap size, cast on 78, 84, or 90 stitches to desired width. scarf cast on 60 stitches using cabled cast on with size Us 8 needle Rows 1-8 (Mock Rib): k2, p1 (this creates a column of knits, a column of purls, and a column of seed/moss stitch). Row 9: Transition row. Change to US 4 needle. K2tog across row to reduce width by half (30 stitches now on needles). Rows 10-17 (Garter): Knit all rows Row 18: Transition row. Change to US 8 needle. Kfb across row to increase stitches (60 stitches now back on needles). Rows 19-24 (Mock Rib): k2, p1 (this creates a column of knits, a column of purls, and a column of seed/moss stitch). Row 25: Transition row. Change to US 4 needle. K2tog across row to reduce width by half (30 stitches now on needles). Rows 26-33 (Garter): Knit all rows Row 34: Transition row. Change to US 8 needle.
