Finished Measurements:

Height: 20.5cm / 8 inches Circumference: 22cm / 9.5 inches, unstreched. Will Stretch to fit head up to 64cm

Yarn:

Teddy's Wool Alpaca (15% Alpaca, 20% Wool, 65% soft acrylic; 100 meters and 50gr per skein), shade 15 (dark grey), dye lot 90417. 1.1 Skeins required (making the rib shorter will reduce amount needed to 1 skein).

Recommended needle size

1 set US #8/5mm double-point needles 1 16 inch US #8/5mm circular needle

22 sts/32 rows = 10cm / 4" in pattern. 1 pattern repeat = 9cm wide and 14cm tall.

Pattern Notes

The hat has 6 pattern repeats across. Each repeat is 18 sts wide = total of 108 sts. skp: slip 1st stitch, knit 2nd st, pass 2nd st over slipped stitch.

DIRECTIONS - HAT A (SOLID COLOR)

Using circular needle, CO 108 sts. Place marker and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist. Round 1: Work 1x1 rib. [k1,p1] to last st. Rounds 2-10: repeat as in round 1. Work Rounds 1-38 of chart. Note: the pattern changes only on odd rounds! All even rounds are knit and purled as they seem. Continue following the chart, starting reductions for crown as of round 39. Each odd round has 6 sets of adjoining reductions (total 12sts reduced). There are no reductions on even rounds. Switch to double-point needles when necessary. When left with 6 sts (after finishing round 55), break yarn, leaving a tail Draw tail through 6 sts and tighten. Weave in tails, block lightly.

DIRECTIONS - HAT B (COLORWORK)

Light grey = Main color (MC) Dark grey =Contrast Color (CC) Using circular needle, CO 108 sts with MC. Place marker and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist. Round 1: Work corrugated rib: [switch to CC and K1, switch back to MC and p1,k1, pl, kl] , repeat till end of round. Rounds 2-10: repeat as in round 1. Continue according to chart, where the white squares are MC, and black are CC. All instructions remain the same as for Hat A.
