DIY Spool Loom Lip Balm Holder Tutorial with Step-by-Step Knitting Guide and Customization Options

Step 1. Gather your supplies Spool Loom with 8 pegs on one end 15 yards of yarn ( I used worsted weight acrylic - cotton would work great too) Button with a shank back on it Lanyard or split key ring (optional) Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends Scissors Stitch Marker for loom

Step 2. Pass yarn through the shank of the button Step 3. Scoot the button down the working yarn a couple of feet Step 4. DO NOT PLACE SLIP KNOT ON YARN,just drop the end down into the spool loom far enough that it comes out the end. Step 5. Place stitch marker on peg 1. Weave your yarn in front of peg 1, behind, peg 2, in front of peg 3, behind peg 4, in front of peg 5, behind peg 6, in front of peg 7, and behind peg 8 (based on the modified adjustable cast on by Brenda Myers) Step 6. Place your working yarn in front peg 1 and knit bottom loop over the top, skip peg 2, knit peg 3, skip peg 4, knit peg 5, skip peg 6, knit peg 7, skip peg 8 - when you finish this round, all 8 pegs should have one loop on them. Step 7. Purl Row 1

Step 9. Knit pegs 1 and 2, move your button all the way down the yarn until it is centered between pegs 2 and 3. Knit pegs 3 - 8. Step 10. Knit Rows 10 - 17 making sure that the button is staying to the inside of your pegs (so that it will slide through the opening in the spool loom). Step 1l1: Bind off pegs 1, 2, 3, and 4 using a basic bind off (be sure to keep it loose). Knit pegs 5 -8 Step 12. Knit 3, HS 1 for rows 19 - 24 Step 13. Bind off 3 using a basic bind off (be sure to keep it loose). Knit remaining peg Step 14. Knit 1 for 6 rows Step 15. Remove project from loom Step 16. Sew closed as shown in last picture Step 17. Weave in all ends Place you favorite Lip Balm inside! OPTIONAL: Add a lanyard hook or split ring and carry it on your keys, the outside of your beach bag, etc.
